Pitch, gauge and drive link count must suit your guide bar and drive sprocket. The finder narrows product options, but final fitment should always be checked before ordering.

Drive link count matters

For loop chain, select the required drive link count on the product page. Bar length alone is only a guide because drive link counts can vary between bar brands and models.

Understanding Chainsaw Chain Sizes

Chainsaw chain must match your saw, guide bar and sprocket. The key measurements are pitch, gauge and chain length measured in drive links.

Drive Links

Drive links are the fin-shaped links on the underside of the chain that run inside the guide bar groove.

The total number of drive links determines the overall chain length.

Pitch

Pitch is the spacing between the chain links and must match your drive sprocket and guide bar tip sprocket.

Common examples: 3/8" Low-Profile, 3/8" Regular, .325" and .404".

Gauge

Gauge refers to the thickness of the drive links and the width of the guide bar groove.

Common examples: .043", .050", .058" and .063".

Length

Chain length is measured by counting the drive links on the underside of the chain.

Correct drive link count helps ensure proper chain fit and adjustment range.
