Archer 3/8" Chainsaw Chain – Full Range
Archer 3/8" pitch chainsaw chain is manufactured from nickel alloy steel, with cutters shot peened and industrial chrome plated to improve strength, durability and edge retention. Available in full chisel, semi chisel, skip-tooth and ripping configurations across .050", .058" and .063" gauges.
Designed in Australia, Archer is made in China. It’s a cost-effective chain suited to general cutting applications.
Quick Guide
Full Chisel: Fast cutting in clean timber.
Semi Chisel: Better edge holding in dirty, dry or abrasive timber.
Ripping: For milling with the grain, not general cross-cutting.
Skip-Tooth: Best suited to longer bars cutting large diameter timber.
Choosing the Right Cutter Type
Full Chisel
Square-corner flat chisel cutter designed for fast cutting in clean timber. Best suited to experienced operators. Loses edge faster in dirty or burnt wood.
Semi Chisel
Rounded cutter profile designed to maintain cutting performance in dirty, dry or abrasive conditions. Holds an edge longer than full chisel but cuts slightly slower.
Ripping Chain 10° Top Plate Angle
Designed for milling or ripping with the grain. Produces a smoother finish with reduced chatter. Not suitable for general cross-cutting.
Skip-Tooth vs Standard (Full Complement) Chain
Standard
Cutter on every drive link. Smooth cutting with better control and finish. Suited to shorter bars and general cutting.
Skip-Tooth
1/3 fewer cutters with an extra drive link gap between them. Reduces drag and improves chip clearance, maintaining chain speed on longer bars (25" and above) cutting full width in larger diameter timber. Not suited to short bars or small timber.
Gauge Explained
.050" / .058" / .063"
Gauge refers to the thickness of the drive link where it fits in the bar groove. It must match your bar specification exactly.
Sharpening & Maintenance
Keep Your Chain Sharp
Use a 7/32" (5.5mm) round file for Archer 3/8" chain to maintain correct cutter profile. Regular sharpening is critical — touching up the chain after each tank of fuel helps maintain cutting speed, reduces heat build-up and minimises chain stretch. A sharp chain cuts cleaner, runs cooler and extends overall chain life.
Match chain pitch (3/8") to your drive sprocket, and ensure gauge and drive link count (DL) match your bar for correct fitment.
