Tsumura 3/8" .063" Hi-Depth Tungsten Carbide Chainsaw Chain

The Tsumura Hi-Depth is a premium carbide chainsaw chain built for extreme cutting conditions. Manufactured in Japan, it is suitable for all timber types including dense Australian hardwoods. Its unique design features horizontal tungsten carbide capping welded across both sides and the top surface of each cutter—offering exceptional strength, edge retention, and resistance to chipping.

This chain cuts 15-20% slower than regular steel chain but delivers outstanding performance in abrasive environments such as dirty wood, stumps, burnt logs, and storm-damaged trees. While it tolerates rough conditions well, avoid direct contact with rocks or metal as carbide may chip under extreme impact.

Key Features:

  • Pitch: 3/8"
  • Gauge: .063" (1.6mm)
  • Cutter Type: Semi Chisel with horizontal carbide capping
  • Origin: Made in Japan

Applications:

  • Dense hardwoods
  • Dirty, burnt, or hollow logs
  • Roots, storm debris, and fire-affected wood

This chain is highly recommended for professional use where long-lasting edge retention and cutting reliability are critical.

Sharpening & Maintenance:

Sharpen only with diamond-coated files or discs. Tsumura carbide chains are not indestructible—do not run them blunt as this will generate excessive heat, stretch the chain, and increase the risk of cutter breakage. Keeping the chain sharp will ensure optimal cutting performance and longevity. Sharpen after every tank of fuel in hard conditions and more frequently in extreme cutting conditions.

Sharpening Frequency Examples:

  • Clean green wood: If a steel chain cuts one tank of fuel per sharpen, Tsumura will cut 3–4 tanks before needing sharpening.
  • Dirty wood: If steel lasts 1–2 cuts, Tsumura will manage 6–8 cuts in the same material or sharpen at least every tank of fuel.
  • Dense hardwood:(e.g. Grey Box, Jarah, Ironbark) Sharpen after every tank of fuel.
  • Regular maintenance and sharpening will maximise performance and chain life.

❌ Critical Usage Warning:

  • Do not reduce raker height below 0.65mm.
  • Do not lever on log spikes or dogs while cutting.
  • MOST IMPORTANT: DO NOT RUN A BLUNT CHAIN!.

Doing so increases the risk of cutters being torn from the chain and may cause chain failure. Maintain proper raker height and cutting technique at all times.

📦 Availability Notice:
