Cannon Chainsaw Carving Bars

Cannon carving bars are built for carvers who want clean detail, accurate tracking, and predictable control. Manufactured in 🇨🇦 Canada by Cannon Bar Works, these bars use the same material standards and precision processes applied across Cannon’s professional bar range, so you get a carving bar that feels stable and consistent in the cut.

The bar body is produced from a custom alloy steel containing chromium for wear resistance and molybdenum for strength. The steel is cold rolled and annealed to achieve the correct balance of hardness, toughness, and flexibility, then heat treated, oil quenched, straightened, surface ground, and CNC machined to tight dimensional tolerances.

What you notice in use is how smoothly the chain runs. Cannon’s precision-honed bar groove is a major reason. The rails are hand-ground (not milled) and each groove is individually finished and centred to approximately ±0.002–0.003" (≈ 0.05–0.08 mm). This supports smooth chain travel, straight tracking, consistent oil delivery, and even rail wear during carving work.

The rails are flame hardened using Cannon’s proprietary process to produce deeper, harder wear surfaces for longer service life. The tip is reinforced with a custom cobalt alloy providing even more endurance.
