Flame-Hardened Rails

Cannon’s proprietary hardening process produces deeper, harder wear surfaces for extended rail life.

Replaceable Sprocket Nose

A single-rivet replaceable sprocket nose supports professional servicing and helps extend the useful life of the bar.

How Cannon SuperBars Are Made

Manufactured in Canada 🇨🇦 by Cannon Bar Works, SuperBars are hand-made from high-grade, custom alloy steel containing chromium for wear resistance and molybdenum for strength. The steel is cold rolled and annealed to achieve the correct balance of hardness, toughness and flexibility.

Bars are water-jet cut to eliminate heat-affected zones, then heat treated, oil quenched and press tempered. After hardening, each bar is straightened, surface ground and CNC machined to tight tolerances.

Cannon is known for its precision-honed bar groove. Rails are hand-ground, not milled, and each groove is individually finished and centred to within .002–.003", delivering smooth chain travel, straight tracking and even rail wear.

The rails are flame hardened using Cannon’s proprietary process for deeper, harder wear surfaces. Longer bars are heel-pressed and stress-relieved to reduce vibration and improve durability.

All SuperBars are finished in a durable gunmetal or matte black coating and fitted with a single-rivet, replaceable sprocket nose.
