Carbide-tipped saw chains are specifically developed for longer cutting edge life, resulting in less frequent sharpening. Carbide chain cuts up to 120M2 of wood before sharpening is required, approximately 3-5 more tanks of fuel than conventional steel saw-chain. Carbide's full chisel tooth is designed for fast cutting of clean firewood. It's also suited to cutting dirty or treated wood, burnt logs, stumping etc, but cutting rocks or steel will damage it.
Diamond files or diamond grinding discs are required to sharpen carbide saw chain.
