Maya .325" .058" Full Chisel Tipped Carbide Chainsaw Chain
Carbide-tipped chainsaw chains are engineered for extended cutting life and reduced sharpening frequency—making them ideal for demanding conditions. This Maya chain features a tungsten carbide-tipped full chisel cutter, designed for efficient cutting in green or moderately dry timber.
Unlike standard steel chains, this tipped carbide model incorporates a brazed tungsten carbide insert on the leading edge of each tooth. This material is nearly twice as dense as steel and significantly more wear-resistant, delivering up to 3–4 times more cutting per sharpen compared to conventional chains.
Key Features:
- Chain Type: Tungsten Carbide-Tipped Full Chisel
- Pitch: .325"
- Gauge: .058" (1.5mm)
- Brand: Maya
Applications:
This is a medium-speed cutting chain, ideal for:
- Softwood and medium density hardwood (15%+ moisture content)
- Treated or dirty wood, burnt logs, and stumps
- Storm damage cleanup and general firewood preparation
It performs best on low to medium-powered saws and is not suited for dense Australian hardwoods (e.g. Grey Box, Ironbark, Turpentine). For those, we recommend a Maya ST Low-kickback carbide chain or conventional steel chain.
Sharpening & Maintenance:
Sharpen only with diamond-coated files or discs (150-micron grit recommended). Carbide chains cut longer between sharpens but should not be run dull—doing so increases friction, stretches the chain, and risks tip weld failure.
⚠️ Safety Warning:
This is a non-safety chain capable of kickback. For use by trained and experienced chainsaw operators only.
❌ Not Recommended For:
- High-powered saws
- Cutting extremely dense green or dry hardwoods
Tipped carbide may break brazed welds under high-impact loads or excessive heat.
